A Model United Nations conference is
a mock simulation of the United Nations. It is an endeavor
which not only makes students aware of burning global issues
but also hones their public speaking skills.
To sensitize the students of middle and
high school and to prepare them for future MUNs, we at DAV
Public School, Sec-14, Gurgaon, conduct MUN activity twice
a week. The activity simulates UN General Assembly with 57
members this year and takes up agendas from varied fields.
Intense debates follow with well researched delegates trying
to bend the committee in their favour and at times slacking a
bit to co-operate with others. MUN club not only makes
students more knowledgeable but also inculcates in them, a
sense of responsibility. The committee takes up three sessions
on an average to come up with a resolution. Throughout the
session, the Director assists the Chair and maintains records
of each session.
Our initiative in this regard has been very
successful and encouraging. This year the students are more
enthusiastic, innovative and willing to work up to their
highest potential. We want the students to make conscious
efforts in order that the MUN Club comes up with
novel solutions to issues with international relevance which
can be reckoned with as the young minds are adept at resolving
them with their judicious minds.
